Bahadurpura: Miralam Filter SETWIN centre stands second in terms of its functioning, training students and other aspects across the city. The centre has evolved from a terrible phase of being closed down and has reached this position now.

The centre was established in the year 1998 and there used to be only six persons every month until 2010. Hence, it was decided to close it down owing to less number of students in the year 2014.

However, an enthusiastic employee, Mohammed Khaja, took the responsibility of taking over as the centre in-charge in the same year and started campaigning for the centre. Khaja approached people through religious places like churches, temples, mosques and also at prominent traffic junctions.

His efforts have paid off as today hundreds of students, youth and unemployed persons are getting trained in the centre. However, the centre is imparting training to more than 400 students these days. There were only two courses offered by the centre in 2014 but now it gives training for 12 different courses.

The government has announced 50 per cent concession in fee for old city youth. The number of students during summer would be 800 to 1,000 every year now. Mohammed Khaja said that introducing the employment generating courses was the major attraction for the youth in area and they joined the centre in large numbers.

He said that anything having relevance gets attraction. The courses offered in the centre are Pre-Primary Teacher Training, Computer courses, Tally, Designing, Advanced Beautician and others.
