Lingampally: For the past 15 days, an electric pole is lying on the Hyderabad –Mumbai National Highway, between Lingampally and Ashok Nagar and commuters are facing severe inconvenience.

Locals says no one from electricity department came to rectify the problem. “Everyday many people pass by this place and if something unfortunate happens, who will be responsible for it” they enquire. They demand that the government look into this matter and clear it as soon as possible as there has been no response from the electricity department.

Speaking to the Hans India newspaper, Anand a private employee said: “It’s so pathetic a situation where the electricity department doesn’t have time to get the pole issue rectified. They all are busy minting money and they are least bothered about the people whose lives might be in danger if anything goes wrong. Taking a swipe at the government, he added: ‘Our so called government is busy in minting money and they will remember people only at the time of elections’.

Mohammed Sonu, a regular traveller wanted that the authorities should recheck the condition of electrical poles in the entire city. Many poles were under low fitness, and wire bundles are lying on the roads.

“In all honesty, I’m travelling on this highway and definitely I'm not driving at 20/30 kmph. And while me or anyone who is driving at high speed won't be able to stop themselves before we hit this pole as we might not be able to see the pole. Government of Telangana does react to things fast, yet they failed to look into this. I just hope it’s taken care of before someone gets hurt
