Trimulgherry: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) has been in denial mode for two years now regarding the status of Trimulgherry Lake. It has been saying that the lake is under the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) but the latter have denied it. Madan Mohan, estate officer TSTDC said, “The lake does not come under TSTDC. It does not have property in Trimulgherry.”

While both, SCB and TSTDC refuse to take ownership, the lake is getting polluted with each passing day. In the last board meeting held at SCB, it was decided that action would be taken within 15 days but there has been no progress. Ward No 7 board member P Bhagyasree even attempted a walkout from the meeting but was persuaded and was assured that action would be taken.

Venkatramana of Malani Enclave says, “The SCB needs to write to the State Government and clean up the lake. SCB constructed drainage pipeline, culverts and connected into the lake but failed to connect them to the other end of the culvert. The affected colonies are Malani Enclave, Surya Enclave, Sainagar Colony, Indian Airlines Colony, Padmanabha Colony among others. It is their duty to undo the wrong.”

Meanwhile, the board member assured the residents that she would take up the issue in the next meeting and the Malkajgiri MP Malla Reddy too said that he would raise the issue in Parliament.
