Secunderabad: Residents in the GHMC limits should actively participate in various Swachh Survekshan-2018 programmes being taken up as part of the awareness campaign by the administration on clean surroundings to enable the civic body secure the pride of place in the country, observed Minister T Padma Rao Goud on Sunday.

Rao was speaking at his residence here at an awareness campaign on preparation of vermin compost from wet garbage, organised in accordance with the orders of GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy and Zonal Commissioner Shankarayya. He created the required awareness on the topic among his family members and the staff.

The minister stated that relentless and continuous efforts were being made to improve the facilities in the twin cities. He said with effective management of garbage clearance the City’s looks can be beautified. Rao advised GHMC officials to take up a widespread publicity campaign on the preparation of vermi compost from wet garbage, with the active participation of people’s representatives, VIPs, and public organisations.

Among those present were GHMC Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar, Corporator Samala Hema, Health officer Dr Venkata Ramana. The GHMC officials pasted a ‘Swachh Niwas’ sticker at the minister’s residence. Responding to this, he said there was a need to convert all houses in Secunderabad into Swachh ‘niwasalu’.
