Tandur: Tree branches are being pruned in the town as part of executing Rs 3.5 crore works to augment power supply in town. The works are underway in all 31 wards of the town since October last year.

According to TS Transco assistant divisional engineer Ramdas, the tree branches are being cut down in Saipur, Old Tandur, Ambedkar Park, Malreddypalli, Bhavani Nagar, Sivaji Chowk, Sitarampet, Gandhi Nagar, Manik Nagar, Tulasi Nagar, Lorry Parking, Indira Nagar, Malreddypalli and so on.

Under the impact of gales blowing across the region during monsoon season, the tree branches tend to fall on overhead electric cables disrupting power supply. Replacing the old cables with new ones is a time-consuming process. Therefore, the engineering officials as a precautionary measure are seeing to it that the tree branches are being cut down.
