United struggle against communalism needed, says Teetsa Setalvad

Osmania University: Social activist Teetsa Setalvad on Friday stated that there was a need for a united struggle across the country against communalism and imperialism. Addressing the all-India universities students’ convention of AISF on OU campus on its second day, she expressed concern over the threat facing democracy in the context of efforts allegedly being made to divide the people in the name of caste and community.

Setalwad alleged that those who managed to come to power after social unrest were resorting to a fascist rule, pointing out that the riots in Gujarat and Muzaffarnagar were part of the social unrest. She called upon students to undertake agitations along with all sections of people.

The convention evolved the future course of action. Among those present were AISF national president Valiulla Quadri, secretary Vishwajeet, Stalin, State leaders R N Shankar, Jogu Lingaswamy, Kampalli Srinivas, Rahman.
