Tirupati: Special chief secretary, sports and youth affairs of AP government, L V Subramanyam has called upon the district chief sports coaches to encourage rural youth in sports as it leads to achieve many medals in national and international sports events.

The special chief secretary held a review meeting over the sports infrastructure in Rayalaseema and Nellore districts on Saturday here at SPM University guest house.
In the review meeting, Subramanyam advised the sports officers to select the active youth at panchayat and mandal levels to give sports training in different events like cricket, gymnastics, tennis, badminton, swimming, hockey and other indoor and outdoor games.

He informed that the state government has established NTR Krida Vikas Kendras at districts level and sanctioning funds liberally for sports training. Later, he instructed the engineer officials of sports department to complete all pending construction works regarding sports infrastructure development at district-level within the stipulated time.
