Hyderabad: An FIR has been registered against a Wakf Board Inspector for misleading Telangana State Wakf Board and making appointment of dead persons as committee members for a mosque in Karwan.

The information which came to light through an RTI has revealed that an FIR has been registered on May 5 against Telangana Waqf Board Inspector Syed Jaleel Ahmed and four others for allegedly extending the tenure of the management of Masjid e Aasar e Shareef Rahmania in Karwan in the name of dead persons and for purportedly suppressing bank accounts of the mosque and misusing its funds.

According to the FIR report, the managing committee members of the mosque allegedly suppressed two bank accounts of Wakf Board auditing panel and formed the committee in the name of dead people. Jaleel Ahmed purportedly filed a false report with the Telangana State Wakf Board (TSWB) stating that he had indeed met the members – when in fact three of them were dead.

According to an inquiry report upon which the FIR was registered, in 2012, the managing committee of the mosque was constituted by Mohd Shafiuddin, president of the masjid committee, with 11 members including three who were dead. The dead include Syed Ikramuddin, M A Qader and Mohd Omer – all of whom passed away in 2011. The report alleges that Shafiuddin and Ahmed held a meeting on November 11, 2012 and unanimously resolved to extend the term of the managing committee of the mosque.

“How Mohd Shafiuddin made his representation and the Inspector Auditor recommended to extend the term?” the inquiry report asks. The other six persons in the FIR include president Shafiuddin, Md Jafer Khan, the treasurer of the Masjid Committee, Md. Sirajuddin, VP of the committee, Md Khaja Pasha, joint secretary, Md Majid Khan and Md Masiuddin, members.
