Kondapur: Heavy rain and strong winds lashed the city on Thursday brought trees crashing down at different locations but at Kondapur the effect was huge. Power supply was also disrupted at a couple of places due to broken power lines.

Till 12.30 pm the city received huge rainfall. Widespread rain and isolated heavy showers have been seen in the city for more than 24 hours. At Kondapur main road, trees that uprooted fell across the road caused the traffic disruption for some time. An electric post got uprooted at Kondapur, disrupting power supply to the area.

Unfortunately, trees were taken off of to their foundations very faster. When they fall over, they can cause extreme injury if an unsuspecting pedestrian happens to be walking by. Head and brain injury, broken bones and even, in extreme cases, death can occur when a person is struck by a falling tree.

The officials said, “The swift action was taken up by the couple of cops immediately after a tree branch fell on a vehicle passing. Later, the cops presented at Kondapur controlled the tree from felling on some pedestrian and helped in avoiding the traffic jams.”

Raju witnessing the incident said, “Extra weight of ivy, top heavy trees and shallow root systems all pose a risk. When you add heavy rains to the mix and too-wet soil, it’s a perfect storm. Trees can fall over and cause not only injury, but tremendous property damage.” looking at the trees that surround your home.

When you take care of the trees, you are less likely to see one falling over due to the heavy rains. India is made by its honest, hardworking people from all walks of life. Kudos to policemen to taking action immediately, he adds.
