Tandur: Residents of Kottur, including two children, on Wednesday undertook a 24-km-long pada yatra to the town to submit a memorandum to him as he had failed to fulfill an assurance that he had given to the villagers six months ago on getting village road repaired and to get a bus operated to the village.

The villagers, including, sarpanch, MPTC , ex-MPTC, youth and young and old, set out on foot to remind the minister of his assurance having patiently waited for the wish to be fulfilled. Special attraction to the pada yatra are Chandraveni (9), a class V student, and Chandravenu (5), a class II student, who marched to the minister’s house along with others under hot sun. People all along the route felt sorry for the children.

Devanur in Yalala Mandal and Kotturu in Bomras mandal are separated by 5 km. The stretch of the road has become unmotorable since the gravel started coming off. The road has been posing problems to commuters, including students and patients. When the minister had visited their village six months ago, the villagers conducted him on a tour and said and urged him to take steps to get the road repaired and operate a bus service to the village.

But there were no signs of bus service and no signs of officials undertaking repairs to the road. The vexed villagers marched to the minister’s house and disappointed at not finding the minister at home. They submitted a memorandum to TRS leader K Purushottama Rao and returned home.
