New Delhi: NITI Aayog here on Tuesday welcomed the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's decision to supply fertilisers free to farmers instead of preferring to offer subsidy on the same or loans. NITI Aayog member, Prof Ramesh Chand, here on Tuesday said the proposal of the Chief Minister was welcome as it was any day prudent to supply the fertilisers free than offer loans to the farmers.

The NITI Aayog here on Tuesday released its three-year action plan for key sectors. It has extensively dealt with doubling farmers' income by 2022 through various means and programmes. In this context, Prof Ramesh Chand referred to the plan envisaged by the Chief Minister to provide free fertilisers. "This is better than seeking loan waivers. Farmers would be better off with this. Loan waivers, etc. are definitely not the right solutions. States can decide on the issue depending on their financial conditions and if they could afford it, it is the best option."

KCR is insisting on integrated rural development in a scientific manner to attain the goals of Bangaru Telangana through the development of the farm sector and allied sectors like horticulture and Animal Husbandry, particularly sheep rearing.
During the NITI Aayog meeting here the other day, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, KCR had elaborated on his plans to improve the performance of the agriculture sector and increase the income of the rural Telangana.
