New Delhi : A grand welcome event and felicitation ceremony was held today at the India Consulate General, Osaka in Japan for the first batch of Skill India's technical interns, who reached Japan on July 17.
T Armstrong Changsan, Consul General of India, wished the newly arrived interns success and appreciated the efforts taken by all the stakeholders, extending support towards the forthcoming endeavours.
The training and orientation of interns was organised under the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) between the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India and the Government of Japan, in October 2017. Signifying exceptional bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of skill development, the training and departure of the first batch of 12 interns has been accomplished within nine months of the signing of the MoC.
The young interns, between the age of 23 to 26 years, hailing from rural parts of Southern Tamil Nadu, belong to economically weaker sections of the society. Under the TITP, the candidates received skill training and were oriented in Japanese language, culture, customs and manners.
The interns will be placed at Maxell Ltd., the consumer electronic company, at its Ono-Shi and Hyogo prefecture plants in Japan, where they will work for a span of 3-years and can avail an option of a 2-year extension. Each intern will draw an average monthly salary of Rs.65,000.
In his congratulatory remarks Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Dharmendra Pradhan said, "Our very best wishes to the interns who will be representing the country. We are confident that these interns will act as Skill India ambassadors in Japan and will also become the role models for our youth. This manpower deployment in Japan is a significant milestone and would go a long way in contributing towards Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of making India the Skill Capital of the World."
NSDC is one of its kind public-private-partnership with an objective to facilitate skill training in partnership with private training providers. Till date, NSDC has approved 350+ training providers and 39 Sector Skill Councils, with a geographical spread of 7,000+ training centres in 600+ districts across the country. NSDC has trained more than 1.4 crore people across sectors.
