Ankara [Turkey]: Turkish General Staff on Thursday said that they have neutralised at least 1028 terrorists belonging to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PYD/PKK) and Islamic State (IS) group in an operation in Syria's Afrin region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the operation Olive Branch was launched to clear Kurdistan Workers' Party (PYD/PKK) and Islamic State (IS) terrorists from Afrin, northwestern Syria on January 20.

The word "neutralised" may refer to that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

In a statement, the military said Turkish Armed Forces had "neutralised" 29 PYD/PKK and IS terrorists in airstrikes that were carried out overnight.

Turkish forces have been carrying out a clearance operation against the insurgents to establish security and stability along Turkey's borders.
