Melania Trump says she feels 'great,' thanks well-wishers

Melania Trump says she feels "great" after a kidney procedure and expects to return to the White House before long. Her husband is visiting her in the hospital for the third straight day.

The first lady's comments on Twitter on Thursday were her first since she was hospitalised for an embolization on Monday. She tweeted "a sincere thank you to Walter Reed Medical Unit" and to her well-wishers.

Mrs Trump added, "I am feeling great & look forward to getting back home."

President Donald Trump is visiting his 48-year-old wife for the third day in a row. The 72-year-old president joked during a visit to the Capitol today that the first lady should be the one visiting him in the hospital, not the other way around.

Melania Trump, underwent a surgical procedure to treat a benign kidney condition and remained at Walter Reed medical centre for the a week.

Spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said in a statement that Mrs Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat the kidney condition.

"The procedure was successful and there were no complications," Grisham said. "The first lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere."

Earlier, Donald Trump said his wife Melania is "doing really well" following a successful kidney procedure and will leave hospital within days. First Lady Melania Trump had surgery on Monday morning for what aides called a "benign" kidney condition. "Our great First Lady is doing really well. Will be leaving hospital in 2 or 3 days," Trump tweeted. "Thank you for so much love and support!" The Slovenia-born former model underwent an embolization procedure, said her communications director Stephanie Grisham.
