Nalgonda: Setting example for others, the Haryana teams, both girls and boys, outperformed other teams in Under-17 National level Kabaddi tournament held at NG College Grounds in Nalgonda.On Wednesday, both boys and girls of Haryana defeated their rival teams in finals and emerged as champions of the tournament.

With spectacular play, Haryana defeated Gujarat by 51-39 and clinched the title.In girls’ finals, Maharashtra faced Haryana for trophy but Haryana girls’ aggressive play helped them to beat Maharashtra by 29-23 score to emerge as champions of the tourney held at the end of the year.

Delhi boys and girls teams defeated Punjab and Karnataka and secured third position in both categories.District Collector Gaurav Uppal, SP Praksh Reddy attended as chief guests at the valedictory function and distributed trophies, medals and certificates to players. Addressing the gathering, the Collector congratulated the winning teams. “Winning and losing are common in any competition, but want counts is the participation,” he said.

The Collector appreciated DEO Chandamohan and his associates for making the tournament a grand success. He further informed that in the first week of January, the district was going to host school games Under-17 National level fencing and Judo tournaments in Nalgonda town. RDO Venkatachary, TRS leader Dubbaka Narsimha Reddy, Ramreddy, Pullaiah, PETs and sports lovers’ participated in the programme.
