Khammam: Local MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar stated that the government was investing crores of rupees for the beautification of Khammam city apart from providing all the basic facilities to its denizens.The MLA attended as a chief guest of a ‘Rangoli’ programme organised as part of upcoming Sankranthi festival in Khammam on Sunday. Addressing the people, the MLA said Sankranthi is a harvest festival mainly celebrated by the farming community when the harvest reaches home. “It gives immense happiness to the farmers who after toiling day and night bring the produce to their homes,” he said.

District secretary of Communist Party of India Bagam Hemanth Rao said Sankranti was the only festival where all the family members living in distant places reach their native towns and villages to celebrate it on a grand note with their parents and relatives.
The MLA, later, handed over prizes to P Renuka, Sharvala Vijay Lakshmi and Kummari Bhavani who stood first, second and third respectively in Rangoli competitions.

District president of Telangana Mahila Samakya Thati Nirmala, secretary Avuri Lalitha Devi, co-option member Mari Jayasheela, city secretary of CPI SK Jani Miya, retired teacher Dr P Radha, M Danamma, Sujatha, Prasanna and Naga Mani were present along with others.
