Khammam set to deworm 3.68 lakh children

Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar directed the officials concerned to take necessary steps for organising National Deworming Day on February 10.
The Collector chaired a meeting with officials, at his chambers in Khammam on Wednesday, to discuss the steps to be taken for organising National Deworming Day.
Addressing the officials, the Collector ordered them to take all necessary measures to administer the de-worming tablets to about 3.68 lakh children, especially to those studying in government and private educational institutions and Anganwadi centres.
“The children of age group from 1 to 2 years must be administered half tablet and to the children from 2 to 19 years must be administered full tablet post meals,” said the Collector.
“Create awareness among the management of all the educational institutions about the National Deworming Day by conducting rallies and programmes apart from deploying one ANM in every centre,” suggested the Collector.
He further asked the officials to use the posters and flyers to educate people about the importance of deworming. District Medical and Health Officer Kondal Rao, Chief Planning Officer of Zilla Parishad Marapaka Nagesh, District Panchayat Officer Srinivas Reddy, District Education Officer Vijaya Lakshmi Bai, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency Muralidhar Rao and Health and Welfare officials attended the meeting.
