Kothagudem: The State government, headed by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, is trying to suppress every voice of dissent, the Congress leaders said.

TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Congress Legislature Party Deputy Leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and former president Ponnala Laxmaiah participated in the ‘Jana Aavedana Sammelanam’ meeting, aimed at exposing the ‘anti-people policies’ of the State and the Central governments, here on Wednesday.

Accusing the ruling TRS government of terrorising people by foisting false cases, Bhatti said Congress party would stand by and fight for the rights of all the oppressed people. “Although the Congress government has ensured the rights of tribal community people, the TRS regime is bulldozing their rights guaranteed under the Constitution,” Bhatti said, referring to the destruction of crops in the name of Haritha Haram in the Agency region. He demanded the government to implement the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package to the displaced of Singareni mines.

Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said people would teach a fitting lesson to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and KCR in the 2019 elections as they both failed miserably in fulfilling their pre-poll promises.

“Kothagudem witnessed a huge development during the Congress regime. A lot of credit goes to former minister Vanama Venkateswar Rao who represented from the cola town,” Reddy said, referring to the industries – Sponge Iron, Nav Bharat, Bhadradri power plant etc.

He said people were aware of political defections. They will show the door to leaders like Puvvada Ajay Kumar who was born in CPI, grown in YSR Congress and became legislator on Congress ticket before changing loyalties to ruling TRS.

Former MLA Rega Kantha Rao, Youth Congress leader Vanama Raghavendra Rao, Sula Uma Rani and S Rambabu were among others present at the largely-attended meeting.

Meanwhile in Nalgonda, CLP leader Jana Reddy accused the TRS government of gagging the voice of people and violating the freedom of expression.

Addressing the gathering during the Jana Aavedana Sammelanam organised by Nagarjunasagar constituency Congress unit at Tripuram on Wednesday, Jana said it was shame the government had to use tear gas on unemployed when they were carrying out peaceful protest rallies.

The CLP leader criticised the way the government behaved with TJAC chief Prof Kodandaram and jobless youth. He raised objection to the government’s denial of permission for the rally and the illegal arrests of agitators.

“Congress government protected the democracy in the State during its ruling,” Jana said, slamming both State and Central governments on their anti-people policies and informed that on behalf of public Congress would fight the government.

Jana further advised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and leaders of ruling party to consider people's anguish and provide better administration in the State.

MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, ZP Vice-Chairman Karnati Linga Reddy and local leaders of Congress and large number of people attended the Sammelanam.
