Kothagudem: World Thinking Day celebrations held on a grand scale at the Scouts and Guides headquarters here on Wednesday. Participating as the chief guest for the fete, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) General Manager G Muralisagar Kumar felt that the real purpose of human life was met when one implements good ideas that cross his mind.

He noted that Baden Powell has set up the Scouts and Guides movement to enable students imbibe the virtues of discipline and patriotism. “Teachers should take the responsibility of rekindling the spirit of Baden Powell among the students.

The responsibility of sowing seeds of good ideas in the children’s minds is rested with teachers and parents,” the GM said. He further added that as part of CSR, the SCCL was promoting the scouts and guides movement all over the coal belt.

As part of celebrations, a group of 300 scouts and guides took part in a peace rally through the thoroughfares of the town. They also performed breathtaking feats and cultural programmes much to the delight of audience.

Prior to the meeting, an all-faith prayer was held. Later, the chief guest unfurled the scouts and guides flag followed by garlanding the idol of Baden Powell. SCCL AGM (IT) Geeta Mohan, DGM BR Deekshitulu and others took part in the event.
