The Minister participated in a general body meeting of Zilla Parishad, held under the leadership of ZP Chairperson Gadepalli Kavitha, here at Zilla Parishad Conference Hall in Khammam on Wednesday.
Addressing the officials, the R&B Minister said March 18, every household would be given tap connection for the supply of safe drinking water.

About 6,000 double bedroom houses had been allotted till date for the district and works are under progress. By Ugadi, some of the houses would be inaugurated, he said.

The Bhadradri Power Project would be completed within a year with the production capacity of 1,050 MW of electricity and in coming two years, the capacity would be increased to produce an extra 2,000 MW, added the Minister.

“Many roads connecting with highways were laid in the district by investing about Rs 2,000 crore through R&B department and projects like Bhakta Ramadasu Lift Irrigation, Haritha Haram, Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha were implemented successfully in the district,” Tummala recollected.

Tummala further added that even though the Central government dissolved the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, continued it in the State.

“As many as 35,000 Anganwadi centres are present across the State. It is the responsibility of peoples’ representatives to supervise and inspect the functioning of Anganwadi centres.

In coming days, the Anganwadi centres will be established on the premises of government schools,” the Minister added.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadepalli Kavitha said the construction works of Anganwadi centres would be completed under Employment guarantee scheme.

She further added that government was taking steps for protection of certain professions with the help of departments like Animal Husbandry and Fisheries and also sanctioning of loans under subsidy to families for rearing sheep and goats.

Later, the members of Zilla Parishad felicitated Padmasri awardee Vanajeevi Daripalli Ramaiah.MLA’s Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Banothu Madan Lal, District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, Kothagudem District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu, Mahabubabad Joint Collector Damodar Reddy, Chief Executive Officer of ZP Marapaka Nagesh, Project Director of DRDA Muralidhar Rao, R&B officer Dhanujay, District Education Officer Vijay Lakshmi Bai, District Marketing Officer Prasad Rao, District Panchayat Raj Officer Srinivas Reddy, Lead Bank Manager Srinivas Sharma, District Agricultural Officer Jhansi Lakshmi, MPP’s, ZPTC’s and MPTC’s were present along with others.
