Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar directed the officials of Health department to take necessary steps to prevent mortality rates of child and women during pregnancy in government hospitals.

Speaking at a meeting held at Technical Training and Development Centres in Khammam on Thursday, the Collector ordered the officials to take steps for conducting normal deliveries in the government hospitals along with designing birth plan for preventing mortality rate of child and women during pregnancy.

“By providing better health services in the Primary Health Centres round-the-clock, the health officials must take necessary precautionary measures to prevent the mortality rate of pregnant women,” suggested the Collector.

He further added that the Health department in coordination with Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) department must make necessary arrangements for providing proper food to the children under the Child Protection Scheme apart from creating awareness among the family members about the measures to be taken during pregnancy until child birth.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr Kondal Rao, Project Director of ICDS Vara Lakshmi, Government Hospital Suprintendent Madan Singh, District Health Officer Malathi, Coordinator Nirmal Kumar, District Malaria Officer Ram Babu and other health officials attended the meet.
