Implement SC orders, demands AITUC: Khammam
The Municipal Sanitary workers along with the representatives of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) staged dharna in front of the Municipal Office here, demanding that the government implement the Supreme Court orders of ‘Equal pay for equal work’ for the contract and out sourcing sanitary workers, in Khammam on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the AITUC District President B G Climont said that when all the municipal workers participated in the separate Telangana Movement led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he promised that he will regularise the services of contract municipal workers by dissolving the contract system in the State but now he is deviating from his words.
“The TRS government assured the municipal workers, when they were on strike for 43 days, that it will increase the salaries of workers but by just enhancing the salaries of municipal workers in Hyderabad it deceived other workers of the State,” he alleged. Due to several movements led by AITUC the State government released the G.O 14 but now the government is not implementing the same for the betterment of municipal workers, he pointed.
“By not allotting sufficient funds to the working community who belong more to SC, ST, BC and Minority sections in the Budget presented in Assembly on Monday the government is deceiving the SC, ST, BC and Minority sections in the State,” he criticised.
He demanded the government to implement the orders of Supreme Court immediately and to pay ‘equal salary for equal work’ to the contract and out sourcing municipal workers along with enhancing their salary to Rs 18,000.
