Bhadrachalam: Despite the Lord Srisitaramachandra Swamy and his consort Sita having 46 kg of gold ornaments, the celestial wedding of the couple will be performed using the jewellery got done by saint Ramadasu.

Ramadasu, an ardent devotee of Lord Rama, had got done several gems and diamonds studded ornaments especially Kalikiturayi, a diamond-studded piece, for the presiding deities after the construction of Bhadrachalam temple. The jewellery was specially referred to in the keertans rendered by Ramadasu while serving the jail term at Golkonda.

It is believed that to get Ramadasu freed from the jail, some of the gold coins called --Ramamada coins – which were purportedly to have been given by Lord Rama and Lakshmana to the then ruler Tana Shah are available with the temple. They are also called as Ramatenki and one can find letters in Devanagari script on these coins.

The Ravvala Vyramudi, to be worn by Lord Rama at the time of his wedding and the precious blue stone in the middle, were said to have been donated by a woman from Madras to Lord Rama. While the noted seer China Jeeyer Swami recently presented 108 golden flowers, Ramaswamy, a devotee from Narsapuram in West Godavari district, presented a golden umbrella and footwear to the deity.

Joining the list, Former Chairman of Board of Cricket Control in India and India Cements Managing Director N Srinivasan had spent Rs 40 lakh and presented a golden doorway to the deities.

Temple executive officer T Ramesh Babu said the idols would adorn the jewellery presented by Ramadasu at the time of celestial wedding. Later, they are preserved safely in the museum on the premises of the temple here.
