Khammam: The district officials were ordered to speed up various works being carried under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) to complete them within the time schedule, by coordinating with the officials of education, ICDS and village development departments.

District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar chaired a review meeting with the officials of various departments to discuss the progress of MGNREGS works, at his chamber in the Collectorate here on Wednesday.
He reviewed the construction works of anganwadi buildings, toilets, kitchen room, store rooms and village panchayat buildings that are under progress.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector Lokesh Kumar ordered the officials to construct as many as 41 anganwadi centres that were recently sanctioned to the district, to be constructed on the premises of government schools.

He ordered the Mandal Education Officers to submit report within two days about the number of toilets required in schools, especially in girls’ schools and the list of schools that need kitchen.

Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) officials were told to take over anganwadi buildings, whose construction work was completed.

The Collector also ordered to speed up land accumulation for village panchayat buildings so that their construction works of village panchayat buildings could be completed at the earliest and to commence the construction works of buildings that were recently sanctioned to the district.

District and Rural Development Agency Officer V Muralidhar Rao, District Education Officer Vijaya Lakshmi Bhai, ICDS officer R Vara Lakshmi and other officials were also present in the meeting.
