Seed processing units, warehouses to dot Khammam
Reiterating that the TRS government is farmer-friendly, Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was working hard to bring smiles to the faces of ryots. In this regard, the CM has waived off 17,000 crore farm loans apart from announcing Rs 4,000 per acre for the purchase of fertilisers from next year, he said.

The Minister inaugurated the restoration works of Rakunat Cheruvu in Lankapalli Village of Penuballi mandal, which are taken up at a cost of Rs 40 lakh under Mission Kakatiya III phase, here in Khammam on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Tummala stated that the state government has introduced several developmental activities for farming community and was successfully implementing them.
He further informed that seed processing units, to make Khammam the Seed Bowl of Telangana, would be established apart from construction of warehouses at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore. “Government is designing various programmes to help farmers get maximum yield using less water through micro, drip and sprinkler type of irrigation methods.
Moreover, the government would provide 100 per cent subsidy to SC's and ST's and 90 per cent subsidy to BC's in this regard,” assured the Minister. About Mission Kakatiya, the Minister stated that as many as 2,000 lakes in the district were restored till date at a cost of Rs 800 crore. “Khammam stands top in implementing welfare schemes and developmental activities of the government,” said Tummala.
On chilli growers’ problems, Tummala stated that the state government was trying to exert pressure on the Centre to fix Minimum Support Price to bail out farmers. Superintending Engineer Mahendar Raju, Executive Engineer Narasimha Rao of Irrigation Department, MPP Shakunthala, ZPTC Rajitha and others were present on the occasion.
