Mahabubnagar: The Mahabubnagar district administration is preparing a comprehensive plan to cross the target of planting more than 1.85 crore saplings during the third phase of Haritha Haram programme in the district.

As part of this, the District Collector Ronald Rose has given clear directions to the officials concerned to prepare comprehensive planning and deliver it as per schedule to reach the set target.

During a video conference, the Collector said this time each and every plant will be accounted and carefully geo-tagged to ensure cent percent sustainability.

“We have already established registers at all nurseries and every plant will be registered in the book. We are ensuring every plant is accounted. As part of the State government’s target we are preparing to do Palm tree plantations through Toddy societies in the district,” he explained.

During the third phase of Haritha Haram, the government is planning to plant more than 20 lakh toddy plants. For which clear directions have been given to all district collectors to be prepared.

“As the government is planning to reach a target of planting more than 20 lakh Palm plants, the forest and agriculture departments have been directed to work in coordination and ensure that all the pits and other necessary arrangements will be ready by July 28, so that a mass plantation programme can be taken up in the State,” informed SP Singh, the Chief Secretary of Telangana Government while speaking to the district collectors through a video conference. For digging pits and trenches for the plantation dirve, the Collector has directed the authorities concerned to involve NREGS workers. He sought the cooperation of every individual to make the programme a grand success.

For taking up plantations in the villages, the Collector has directed the officials to prepare advance planning and conduct pre-plantation meeting with the villagers and take their help in identifying the plantation areas. He also directed the forest and agriculture officials to distribute different varieties of saplings to the villagers as per their choice.
