BJP and CPI accuse Minister Chandulal and MP Seetaram Naik of shifting Tribal varsity from Mahabubabad to Mulug

Mahabubabad: BJP and CPI district units’ leaders have accused Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal and local MP A Seetaram Naik of planning to relocate Tribal University proposed to be set up at Mahabubabad to Mulug.

The leaders of the parties have staged separate protests and burnt effigies of MP Seetaram Naik here on Monday. The CPI activists led by the party state council member B Ajay have taken out a protest rally from the party office to Nehru Centre in the town and staged dharna.

Ajay, tribal leader L Ramu Naik and AISF district general secretary Ch Ekambaram complained that Andhra leaders like D Purandareshwari have lobbied at the Centre to establish Tribal University sanctioned by the Centre to Mahabubabad during united Andhra Pradesh.

Now the university, proposed by the Centre to be set up at Mahabubabad, is being shifted to Mulug as the Minister and the MP belongs to that place. The local MLA B Shanker Naik was maintaining silence on the issue, they alleged.

The density of tribal population is high in Mahabubabad district hence the university should be set up in the district. The MLA should put pressure on the State government to see that the university would be set up here, the CPI leaders demanded.

They wanted the Minister and the MP to quit their alleged efforts to locate Tribal University at Mulug. The CPI city unit secretary Perugu Kumar, associate secretary R Naveen, municipal counsillor D Ramu and others were present.

The BJP district general secretary BV Raghavulu, who led a protest near railway station, stated that Mahabubabad has got all the required facilities like land and good railway and road connectivity. Hence the state government should ensure that the university be established in the district.

They asked the Minister and the MP that they should respect the sentiments of the locals. The party leaders S Sampath, Ch Radha Patel, Manda Krishna and others were present.
