Kothagudem: District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu on Thursday directed officials to ensure that the Republic Day celebrations were conducted with a clear plan. Addressing a review meeting to discuss arrangements to be made for the Republic Day fete, Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu asked the officials of Police and Roads and Buildings departments to get the Pragati Maidan ready for the parade.

The Collector designated Kothagudem Tahsildar Ashok Chakravarthi as the overseeing officer and wanted proper mike arrangements to be made besides setting up of stalls for the day. Urging all officials to reach the parade venue by 8.45 am and attend the flag-hoisting ceremony, he added that police personnel would take part in the march past and DRO Kiran Kumar would oversee the distribution of commendation letters to the government staff. Only those who offered commendable services should be selected for the honour.

The Collector wanted special tents to be erected at the parade for the differently-abled, beneficiaries and farmers. The welfare departments should get ready with the assets to be distributed. He said the task of supplying drinking water, and sanitation would be taken up by the municipality. The Collector wanted officials to submit their progress reports to be included in the Republic Day speech to the District Public Relations Officer by January 10. Among those present at the meeting were the District Revenue Development Officer Jagathkumar Reddy, DSP M Ali and all district-level officials.
