Khammam: Women should fight unitedly to secure their rights, said Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) three town Secretary Pattipaka Naga Sulochana here on Thursday.

She was attending as chief guest at the programme organised by the representatives of the All India Democratic Women Association (AIDWA) under the leadership of Yerra Shailaja on the occasion of ‘International Women’s Day’ and hoisted the flag here at Sundaraiahnagar here.

Speaking on the occasion, the Naga Sulochana condemned increasing number of attacks on women though several laws were enacted. There is a need to create awareness among the people about the importance of women’s role in the society, while waging a fight for their rights, she observed.

The BJP-led NDA government must introduce the women’s Bill in Parliament, she demanded. She also demanded that the government sanction interest-free loans to the women in Self-Help Groups along with double bedroom houses under 2BHK housing scheme.

The representatives of AIDWA M Kanakamma, Suvarna, A Nirmala, Shailaja, Y Naga Lakshmi, Padma, Dhana Lakshmi, Jayamma, Govindamma, Srimani, Yadamma, CPM leader Yerra Srinivas Rao, DYFI leaders Upendra Chary, Y Nagesh and Narasimha Chary were present along with others.
