Mahbubnagar: While extending his greetings and congratulating all women across Mahbubnagar district on the occasion of International Women’s Day celebration, the Mahbubnagar MLA Srinivas Goud said the women’s contribution in the development of the society is of vital importance.

He said wherever the women are respected that society is a developed society. While enumerating the government’s initiatives to provide women’s safety, the MLA said that SHE teams have been formed by the government to eradicate atrocities and violence against women in the society.

He said the State government is providing 50 per cent reservation for women in politics and today majority of women are also excelling in politics.

“If we respect women, then we will get respect for our home and society. The State government is providing equal opportunities for education of girls and have opened highest number of Gurukula and Kasturiba schools in the state.

The state government is giving pension to single and widowed women. “Similarly, we are giving highest priority for the healthcare and welfare of the pregnant women. We are constructing 3,000 double bed rooms for the downtrodden and below poverty people and all those houses will be given to the women,” he said .

Mahbubnagar district is the first district in the State to start English medium Anganwadi centres so as to provide children below 5 years the facility, apart from educating them in their mother tongue.

The KCR government had increased the Anganwadi teachers’ salary form Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000, this showed the affection towards the women by the government.

The government is doing all it can do to eradicate social evils like child labour, child marriages, slavery, jogini system and various other evils in the society, said the MLA.
