Mahbubnagar: Keeping in view of rising incidents of deaths due to drowning in ponds, lakes and other water bodies, District Collector Ronald Rose directed the officials concerned to caution people by establishing danger signboards at all major water bodies in the district.

It may be recalled that recently three boys of a same family accidently drowned in the temple pond in Kanduru village of Addakal mandal, while another incident reported drowning of Class X student in a well in Dhanwada mandal of the district.

Not only these, the right and left canals of Jurala irrigation project have also become death traps as many people have lost lives while driving alongside the canal road. Very recently, an engineer had also lost his life by falling into the Yedutla D8 canal in Kollapur mandal.

In view of such incidents, the district officials have released an advisory to public to be cautious while visiting the water bodies. “All the top district officers including Narayanpet Sub-Collector, Mahbubnagar Revenue Division Officer, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat Officer and Tahsildars of all mandals in the district have been directed to take steps for installing early warning signboards all water bodies so as to caution public about the danger,” said the Collector, adding that they had directed the officials concerned to identify and notify all dangerous places with the help of Panchayat Secretary, VROs and VRAs in the villages across the district and asked them to set up sign boards at appropriate places to caution the public of the lurking danger.

In addition to this, the Collector also directed Vice-Chancellor of Palamuru University, District Intermediate Education Officer and District School Education department and principals and correspondents of all schools to identify dangerous places like water bodies, ponds, lakes and canals in their vicinity and directed them to alert the students and caution them to not to venture in to such places.
