The Agriculture Minister and Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, besides State Farmers Coordination Committee Chairman Gutta Sukhendar Reddy were participating in FCC meeting here.

Speaking at the meeting, Srinivas Reddy said the State government had introduced crop investment support scheme and sanctioned Rs 4,000 per acre for each farmer in kharif season. The State government would launch Rythu Bheema scheme (Farmer Life Insurance scheme) on August 15.

The scheme would benefit over 50 lakh farmers. Each farmers would get Rs 5 lakh insurance cover. The farmers in the age group of 18-60 are eligible for Rythu Bheema Scheme. The government would pay Rs 2,271,50 towards premium for each farmer.

With the orders issued by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao necessary steps were taken for distribution of nearly 10,000 tractors on subsidy by investing Rs 500 crore, he said.

Nageswara Rao said the State government was striving for uplifting the farming community and was introducing many welfare schemes for their well-being. Several irrigation projects were taken up by investing Rs 9,000 crore for supplying water to about 10 lakh acres in the united Khammam district. Supplying 24 hours of uninterrupted power for farming sector, distribution of fertilisers and seeds were some of the schemes being implemented for the welfare of farmers,

Lok Sabha member Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, the FCC Committee Convenor Nallamala Venkateshwar Rao, Commissioner of Agriculture Department Jaganmohan Rao, MLAs Thati Venkateshwarlu, Koram Kanakaiah, Banothu Madan Lal, District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadepalli Kavitha, DCCB Chairman Muvva Vijay Babu and the District Agriculture Officer Jhansi Lakshmi Bhai (Khammam), Abhimanyu (Bhadradri Kothagudem) were present at the programme.
