He had been suffering from a kidney ailment for a long time and was undergoing dialysis treatment.
Gundu Hanumantha Rao began his film career with 'Aha Na Pellanta' in 1987 and starred in over 400 films.
Expressing grief over the demise of the actor, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao according to an official release, said, "It is a great void created by Hanumantha Rao who contributed to the theatre, film and TV industries."
