IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday participated in the Rythu Bandhu programme in the village of Illanthakunta. Speaking at the meeting, KTR said that through Mission Kakatiya, they are trying to fill 46,000 ponds in the state.

He said, “Four years ago, nobody cared about the peasants but now Telangana is the state which supplies 24 hours electricity to farmers. In 2009, the government did not even provide electricity for 9 hours. If power supply existed in the united AP, it was news but if there is a power cut, it will be news.”

KTR further said, “After the formation of Telangana state, electricity and seeds are coming at the right time. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is a farmer's child and therefore is striving for the farmers. The farmers' investment announcement was made a year after the loan waiver scheme. After 86 years, KCR is the leader who is clearing the land records by distributing new Pattadar passbooks to 60 lakh farmers. The previous government struggled to give a pension of Rs 200 but the Telangana government is giving a pension of Rs 1000.”

Condemning the Congress leaders’ criticism on the Rythu Bandhu scheme, the Minister said that Telangana is the only state in the country to invest in farming and drinking water. Telangana will be the motto of the new green revolution in the country. The Telangana government has the full understanding of the farmer's problems. The Employment Guarantee Scheme is great. The Centre should make a decision to link the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) to agriculture.”
