In a sensational incident, the chief priest of Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, Dr Ramana Deekshitulu, has leveled serious allegations agains the officials and the political appointees in the TTD and called for saving the temple from politics.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, he said though he was the chief priest, he was not aware of the details of the ornaments of the Lord. He sought to know what has happened to the ornaments presented to the Lord by Sri Krishnadevaraya. He also said that the politicians and membes, who are not aware of the history of the temple, are ruining the glory of the temple.

On the issue of non-Hindus in the TTD, he said he is leaving the issue to the discretion of the concerned persons. He said the Government has made a mistake by appointing people with no knowledge of Tirumala’s traditions. He also said that he has been fighting against the corrupt practices and called upon the devout to join his struggle.
