Rythu Bandhu most prominent scheme for farmers in country: KTR

Telangana government’s initiated Rythu Bandhu Scheme is the most prominent scheme for the farmers in the country, said Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao.

Addressing the media on Friday, he said that Telangana will be the centerpiece of the second green revolution adding that those who migrated to the Gulf due to irrigation troubles were coming back.

KTR demanded the Centre to link the Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) with agriculture to benefit the farmers and that the crop insurance policy should be changed.

Mentioning that 98.3 percent of the farmers are small and marginal with more than 1.7 percent of the farmers having about 10 acres of land, he opposed the claims that farmers who own more than 10 acres are not eligible for crop investment.

KTR insisted that the government's aim was to implement the scheme positively. According to the law, no one holds land above 54 acres. The Minister blamed the Opposition for campaigning that he had hundreds of acres.

He said that if they help the tenant farmers, they will seek their right on land. The benefit of the farmer also indirectly benefits the tenants. KTR made it clear that in November, more farmers would be able to get more livelihood.
