Telangana Jana Samiti chief Professor M Kodandaram on Sunday came down heavily against the Telangana government's flagship scheme, Rythu Bandhu saying that the scheme was helping realtors instead of farmers.

Speaking to the media in Warangal, he suggested ATM-like cards could have been given to the farmers to purchase the required material for agriculture.

Calling out the loopholes in the scheme, Kodandaram said that the uncultivated land is the property of realtors who use it for business purposes which results in Rs 1,720 crore going to realtors and non-land cultivating owners.

Stating that the purpose of the scheme has been defeated, he urged the Telangana government to revise the scheme such that it only benefits the farmers.
