Accident in Nellore, 6 from Guntur die
A pall of gloom descended on Naidupalem of Guntur district as six persons from the village died in a ghastly road accident at Pellakur in the district in the wee hours on Saturday.
A pall of gloom descended on Naidupalem of Guntur district as six persons from the village died in a ghastly road accident at Pellakur in the district in the wee hours on Saturday. Two amongst them were children when a van in which they were travelling was hit by a private travel bus at Pellakur.
The deceased were identified as Subbulu, 53 ; B.Poojitha, 2 ; Venkata Sai Charan, 3 ; Pulla Reddy, 45, Nagaraju and Srinivasulu.
According to police, a family from Naidupelam village of Bollapalli mandal in Guntur district were heading towards Tirumala for darshan who started at 12 noon on Friday. The van consisting of 16 passengers including driver and they reached to Pellakur and a private travels bus hit the van in the wee hours on Saturday.
3 persons including the driver died on the spot. Passersby informed to the Police and the injured were shifted to Naidupeta hospital for treatment. While undergoing treatment a woman died at Naidupeta hospital. Nagaraju and Srinivasulu who received severe injuries were further shifted to a private hospital in Nellore for better treatment where they died while undergoing treatment.
“Over speed was reason for the accident. We had taken the driver into custody seizing the bus. A case was registered and the investigation is on,’ said Gudur DSP V.S Rambabu. Others were being treated in Nellore and Naidupet hospitals.
