In an unprecedented move to put an end on corruption in the police force, Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy directed all the Superintendents of Police and Commissioners of Police to abolish special police teams across Telangana.

Reports suggest that special teams set up in districts and city limits were found to be collecting monthly or weekly sums from business establishments and others.

In the movement against corruption, more than 350 personnel are said to be transferred while the special teams will cease to exist.

A unit wise list of police personnel who allegedly were involved in the organized collection of monthly mamools etc has been forwarded for information through email.

The DGP stated that the menace of the organized collection of mamools at all levels will be put an end as the SPs and CPs have been asked to attach the concerned to AR headquarters with immediate effect wherever they haven’t discontinued the practice.

He added that such practice in any form if continued would result in adverse inference against unit officers and sub unit officers concerned.
