A man leaving his plush offices and riches to head back to his village to transform it. Through his toil, he brings smiles back on the faces of the villagers, helps farmers get higher yields and transforms the local Government school from a non-descript and neglected haven of despair to a dynamic seat of learning that churns out the best brains. You’ve only seen in happen in films like Srimanthudu.

But, go to Yazali village in Guntur district! There you would find Lakshmi Narasimha, a youth who chucked his software job to transform his village. Lakshmi floated “Yajili Na Janmabhoomi” , an NGO and roped in 50 persons with roots in the village. Thanks to his untiring efforts for the last seven years, the school, which did not have many students and stared at rampant absenteesm, is now transformed into a bustling and burgeoning seat of education. Hundreds of boys and girls attend the school and the results have improved significantly. School dropouts are the thing of past and the pass percentage in SSC has improved.

What spurred Lakshmi Narasimha to embark upon this rural transformation mission? In 2010, seven boys from the villages died in road mishaps. They were all adolescents and all were found to be drunk while driving. This made him sit and think about the future of his village. That day, he had put in his papers and headed back to Yazali. The urge to give bak to the village, made him organize medical camps and set up an RO plant in the village. A PHC is set to be built for the village soon.

Through his effort, a bank has setup a branch in the village and SHGs sprouted. The NGO provides food and support to the old and infirm. It is now trying to change the agricultural practices of the village for the better. He wants to bring in modern agricultural practices for the village.

In short, thanks to Lakshmi Narasimha, Yazali is all set to become a model village.

Lakshmi Narasimha has been nominated for the prestigious Prime Minister Rural Development Award this year. Support him by sending a message through SMS or whatsapp by typing Y4D 080409 on mobile no:
