The locals mistook them for thieves as they were not in uniform. Later, local police, who were informed about the incident, came and rescued them. The Kurnool police said the Telangana police did not inform them about their operation.

The police were searching for a woman who had kidnapped a 12 year old girl from Mahabubnagar. The woman came to Nandikotkur and found shelter in the house of one Ghani. The police of Balanagar in Mahabubnagar later took the girl and the two minors she broght with her.
