Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday met the family of software engineer Mohammed Azam who was brutally lynched to death last Friday.

Congress MLC Mohammed Ali Shabbir and other senior party leaders including P Sabitha Indra Reddy, Balram Naik and V Hanumantha Rao also accompanied him.

The techie, who worked with Accenture in Hyderabad, was attacked by residents of Murki village in Bidar district of Karnataka after they assumed him to be a child lifter.

The TPCC President met Azam's family members at their Bandlaguda residence in Hyderabad and handed over a cheque of Rs 2.5 lakh. They also assured to sponsor the education of his 18-month-old son.

Along with the Congress, All India Majlis e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi also extended a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh, to the family as

party MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala handed over the amount to the family members of Mohammed Azam on Wednesday. Owaisi also requested Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy to grant an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the family.

Rs 25,000 was handed over to Mohammed Salman, who was also severely injured in the same attack.
