Security measures are being tightened at the metro stations in the wake of the Metro services to kick-start on the Ameerpet-LB Nagar route next month.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) have deployed private security guards in addition to the police personnel with each station to get 12 private security guards and three police, including one Assistant Sub Inspector and two constables.

With two shifts, different personnel will be deployed to guard the stations for each shift.

More than 500 security personnel are guarding the 24 stations on the existing Miyapur- Nagole route covering 30 km. In addition to this, installation of surveillance cameras, door-frame metal detectors, hand-held detectors and other security equipment has been completed.

The L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited authorities are ensuring foolproof security arrangements by placing four cameras in every coach, over 60 high-resolution cameras at each station along with surveillance in all the areas such as parking, viaduct and track, depots. The unmanned areas will have surveillance cameras, sensors and alarms besides the intrusion detection systems, anti-sabotage checking measures and hand-held metal detectors.

The security aspects will be monitored constantly from the surveillance cameras at the Operation and Control Centre (OCC) in Uppal and the footage is synchronised with the police control room.
