Rehmatnagar: The much-hyped water ATMs installed by the GHMC are gradually losing their purpose in some areas in the twin cities. It is due to official apathy coupled with absence of civic sense among the public making the kiosks to go out of function.
The water ATM at Rehmatnagar in Yousufguda division stands a good example for this. From two wheelers to heavy trucks are seen parked in front of the machine all the time, obstructing the access to the needy. GHMC installed such water ATMs to provide safe drinking water for low price. But lack of maintenance by the officials is defeating the purpose.
