The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday has directed the HMDA, GHMC and Pollution Control Board (PCB) authorities to present a detailed report on the channels which carrying industrial wastes to the rivers in the city and polluting them.

The orders were passed with respect to the petitions filed by social activist Lubna Sarwath seeking the protection of Malkam Cheruvu at Raidurg of Seilingampally of Rangareddy district.

It also further asked the authorities to destroy the channels and protect the lakes.

"The lakes in the city will get cleaned and rejuvenated only after preventing them by getting polluted by industrial wastage," the bench said.

The court also warned the public against the release of wastage into water bodies.

Taking the names of Lotus Pond, Khazaguda Peddacheruvu, Nacharam Peddacheruvu, Meeralam Tank and Kukatpally Rangadhamuni Cheruvu, the court told the authorities to begin the cleaning up of lakes process with them after submitting a detailed report on the lakes.

It also asked the authorities to take a call on the implementation of Geo tube technology in the process which incurs less expenditure.
