He said without any involvement of middlemen, purchasing paddy directly from farmers at Minimum Support Price is very much appreciable.
Tiwari on Friday visited Siddipet district to study Paddy Procurement System in Telangana State. He visited PPC’s at IKP in Palamakula and AMC in Siddipet. He also visited two FP Ration Shops in Siddipet.
On this occasion, Tiwari chat with local farmers and enquired about paddy purchase, payments. Farmers said they were getting and Minimum Support Price for their paddy by selling at Procurement Centers.
Commissioner for Civil Supplies Akun Sabharwal informed Pramod Kumar that Civil Supplies Department set target of purchasing 34 Lakh Metric Tons (LMTs) of paddy in this Kharif season and set up 3233 PPCs for the procurement.
The Commissioner said In 2016-17, from 10.88 lakh farmers 53.69 Lakh Metric Tons (LMTs), 2017-18 from 10.77 farmers 53.99 LMTs paddy is purchased. Total of Rs. 16,655 crores was paid directly to farmers account through online.
