Guwahati:The second “Karbi Anglong Day” was celebrated at Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium in Guwahati on Saturday.

During the occasion Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Karbi Anglong district is rich in flora and fauna and that the State Government has taken a slew of measures to turn it into an organic hub.

Addressing as chief guest, Sonowal said that Karbi Anglong district would play a pivotal role in making the State an organic hub and the State Government is mulling ways and means to harness the organic potential to the optimum level.

Sonowal said development of surface communication of Karbi Anglong is a must to give a boost to the organic industry and steps will be taken for its development.

“Roads will be developed in such a way that the farmers can carry their produce easily to the nearest market places and students can go to the educational institutions without facing any difficulty. Budgetary allocation has been made for Karbi Anglong’s development. Establishment of a medical college and a DIET together with upgradation of Assam University campus into a full-fledged one will be taken up by the Government,” Sonowal said.

Terming the Karbi Anglong festival as a great unifying force, Sonowal said that the festival will help to further strengthen the greater Assamese society. Towards this end, we gave to work together to strengthen the greater Assamese society.

Sonowal said that the State Government would expedite the development process by taking up new schemes with support and cooperation from the people of Karbi Anglong.
