Indigestion is a very common complaint and can be the bane of your life. Any gastronomical problem is due to the food you eat. Wrong combinations, low intake of fluids, constant presence of fried foods, bad fats, daily intake of white flour in form of breads, pastas, biscuits, sugar in form of sweets chocolates, mithais, soft drink, cocktails, aerated drinks, alcohol and drugs add to stress and overeating automatically affects intestinal secretions of digestive enzymes causing the gastrointestinal track(G.I ) to malfunction.

An efficient GI tract

  • Assimilates digest and excretes food in an hour after consuming.
  • There should not be any gas or distention in the stomach.
  • Every day the bowel must be soft not greasy and without an offensive odour.
  • The stool should not have whole undigested pieces in it.
  1. Inefficient GI. After an hour you feel heavy and full as if you have overeaten. This is due to low hydrochloric acid flow. This can be increased by having warm water with lemon, ginger and mint herbal infusion after the meal aiding digestion. Adding asafoetida and carom seeds to your cooked food is enormous aid to digestion.
  2. Heart burns cramps undigested food particles in your excreta or sticky stools is due to pancreatic insufficiency. Bromelain found in pineapple and papain found in papaya helps in breaking down indigested food particles. Begin the day with a banana it prevents heart burn.
  3. Worms and bacteria can make a home in your intestine attacking the lining of the digestive tract causing harm to the lining . Include garlic to your daily it prevents worms from settling in. Unripe papaya aids digestion as well as prevents worms. Drinking water, adding salt, having potassium rich foods such as banana prevents bacterial infection in your stomach.

Lemon shots

Ingredients
1 lemon juiced
200 ml water
¼ tsp powdered cumin seeds
Black salt to taste

Method

  • Take 1 glass water, add lemon juice to it.
  • Dry roast cumin seeds and powder it.
  • Add cumin powder and salt to the lemon water and serve after meals as a digestive.

Digestive Aid

Ingredients
2 tbsp Dil (Suva)
2 tbsp Sauf (Varyali)
1 tbsp Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
Black Salt and lemon to taste

Method

  • Mix dil, sauf and carom seeds together.
  • Add salt and lemon and dry roast it on a slow flame till it becomes crisp.
  • Enjoy it after meals.
