Fallible Federal Front
The election-eve exuberance over Federal Front resurfaces. But a potpourri of political parties lacking programmatic cohesiveness and ideological affinity is unsustainable. History is replete with such examples. An opportunistic antipathy towards the ruling BJP and a plethora of pushy leaders make any such political experiment evasive and effacing.

History is replete with such examples. An opportunistic antipathy towards the ruling BJP and a plethora of pushy leaders make any such political experiment evasive and effacing.
Most of these possible constituents of any such Federal Front have conveniently switched loyalties between UPA and NDA making the Front porous. Any political conglomeration stitched together with relatively equal partners and not anchored by a numerically stronger political force will remain an arithmetic agglomeration prone to instability.
The earlier experience with National Front and United Front validate these apprehensions. The fragmented polity would certainly provide an opportunity for permutations and combinations. But, how well it contributes to a formidable ruling combine is a million dollar question.
