In case, the Centre planned such a move, then Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would take a call on it, he added.

Speaking to the media after chairing a sub-committee meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education on Girl Child Education, Srihari said the committee had discussed ways and means of encouraging girl child education in the country. Monday’s meeting was regarding a review of the status of girl child education in Telangana, Assam and Jharkhand.

The status of girl students’ education at middle and higher education levels was discussed in the meeting. A national level meeting would be held soon, he added. He said it was imperative that girl child was encouraged to study in the country and that women became more empowered in all fields.

A comprehensive strategy would have to be in place to promote girl child's education and to bring in a change of attitude towards girls with greater gender sensitive training methods. A report would be submitted to the Centre by the end of this year on the subject, he said.
